Annual Engine Service – Suzuki & Yamaha Outboards

Here's a list of steps we do when servicing motors for annual services

• Engine Oil & Filter Change
  Replace engine oil and oil filter to maintain lubrication and engine health.
• Gearcase (Lower Unit) Oil Change
  Drain and refill gear oil to prevent wear and check for signs of water intrusion.
• Fuel Filter & Water Separator Replacement
  Replace inline and onboard fuel filters; inspect and drain water separator.
• Spark Plug Inspection/Replacement
  Check spark plugs for fouling or wear; replace if needed for consistent ignition.
• Cooling System Inspection
  Inspect water pump impeller and housing; replace if due or showing wear.
• Thermostat Check
  Test and inspect thermostat for proper engine temperature regulation.
• Anode (Zinc) Inspection & Replacement
  Check internal and external sacrificial anodes; replace if heavily corroded.
• Battery Check
  Test voltage, load, and connections; clean terminals and secure mount.
• Propeller Inspection
  Remove and inspect prop for damage; grease shaft and reinstall.
• Steering & Controls Inspection
  Check for free movement, wear, and corrosion; grease linkages as needed.
• Diagnostic Scan (if EFI/ECU-equipped)
  Connect to diagnostic tool to check fault codes and software updates.
• Check Fuel Lines and Primer Bulb
  Inspect for cracks, stiffness, or leaks; replace if aged.
• Visual Inspection of Powerhead and Components
  Look for signs of corrosion, leaks, or damage.
• Grease All Required Fittings
  Use marine grease on fittings and pivot points.
